Short Question: When do we open for fall?
Long Answer:
Wow, it’s hard to believe it’s August already! That means that it won’t be long before we’re seeing mums all over the place. We’ve had people start to ask about our fall season, so with that in mind, we felt it was time to share our plans.
Fall is a difficult season for a greenhouse. The customer enthusiasm that comes with spring is replaced with a bit of a let down (and maybe some relief!) as we start to prepare our gardens for winter. The market for mums and pumpkins is completely saturated. And although it’s a wonderful time to plant shrubs and perennials, the steady stream of customers that we’re so grateful for in the spring is a trickle in the fall months. And as a small greenhouse, it’s hard to absorb the revenue losses that come with such a slow time of year.
Therefore, after much thought, we have made the hard decision to remain closed this fall. Our goal is always to provide for all of your gardening needs, so this was a particularly difficult choice, and one that we see ourselves revisiting in upcoming years. But for 2023, this is the right decision for us and our business.
We are grateful for your continued support, and hope to see you, starting the day after Thanksgiving, for Hillside Holidays! We will have the freshest trees, garlands, wreaths, and greenery, along with a large selection of bows, baubles, berries, and accents of all kinds to dress it up! Our gift shop will be full with ornaments, holiday decor, and wonderful gifts. And mark your calendars to see Santa at the greenhouse on December 9th!
